My work investigates history as a complex weaving of heritage, genealogy, and identity. As a Canadian-born Chinese, I take comfort in knowing that my refernce points are many. I have a fierce quest to unveil the essence of my cultural roots. I see myself expressing the many layers of my being rather than being caught between two cultures. Examining and researching the ancient Silk Road has enabled me to reposition myself as a future artist. With my Silk Road Project I emphasize the hidden, ephemeral, and subtle and seek to experience and reveal the complexities of cultural boundaries.
