My paintings stem from an intrigue of microcosms that form landscape. These intrinsic landscapes have been in my memory since childhood, as I grew up in a rural northern community surrounded by the natural patterns of life. The loss of the landscape in my work is a result of the focus on natural repetitions found in the growth structures of plants. The smallest components have become my focus, and they have grown to abstract the environment they occupy.
