Currently, my work examines questions related to storage; why we store things, what we use to store the things that we collect, the value of the things we store, and issues related to property and how we protect our things are all issues explored in my work. I’m also interested in the loss of purpose of objects and in temporary transitional states. This piece is from a series entitled “Landschap” (a Dutch word meaning “laboured earth”) that explores the transitional spaces in between homes. I wanted to examine the subtle ways we distinguish our property from our neighbour’s through the way we cut our lawn, plant our shrubs or build our fences. We draw lines in the grass with our lawnmowers and create borders that differentiate our property from our neighbour’s.
