I have always appreciated the simple things in all aspects of my life; honesty, brevity, efficiency. Aesthetically speaking this translates into seeing beauty in the simplest of things such as plain dishes, simple architectural forms, and the most basic elements of nature. I try to truly see what most people simply look at.
I am attracted to sculpture and photography precisely because each can be approached and used in simple ways. Rather than fabricating complex pieces for the most part I simply present pre-existing objects and materials in a new way. This piece was part of a series in which I compared the blades of scissors to shards of glass by layering drawings of scissors on a glass box, shattering the box and photographing those shards.
