Vancouverites love their dogs and their pristine city. They value the city’s natural beauty, which makes it one of the best cities in the world to live in. There is no dog pooh to be found in its streets or parks. But less behind this sanitized image the city hides Vancouverites drug problem and the plight of the sex trade workers. This is a reality Vancouverites are not as successful in addressing. In this painting, I chose easily recognizable symbols : two dogs, french poodles and the city’s skyline. However, on closer inspection the scenery reveals the underlying tragedy of disappearing women and the remains of drug use.
