Through my exploration of the landscape of Port Alberni, B.C., I have created an installation of glass jars, Housing Souvenirs of Place. Working from specific sites in the nautral world, I have collected artifacts as memorial souvenirs of an impermanent landscape. By constructing a display case of pine boards and old housing bricks, I’ve created an environment to house my findings. As they decay over time with this work I create a dialogue surrounding one’s connection to their landscape as well as the impermanence and decay of these natural materials and places.
