Trash Scans is a hybrid of visual ideas that range in influence from Tibetan Yantras to Pop Art and found object collage. The mandala is an object used for visual contemplation on the beauty and perfection of Creation. In my re-vision, the symmetry and balance exist, but are formed out of trash taken directly from my immediate environment. The appropriated objects are a reflection of our disposable, junk food culture. Spirituality and the pursuit of self-knowledge are replaced by consumerism and self-indulgence. If the outer world is a reflection of the inner Self, then the revolution starts within. The power of intention and attention are what will transform our disposable world into one that is sacred and respectful of all life.
