Cultured Animal was a publication that I designed for one semester of my final year at Emily Carr. The objective of the project was to use design as a vehicle to explore the changing social and cultural environment, and the varying notions of progress in our society. I decided that this could be accomplished by creating an arts and culture magazine that would present content that included the work and ideas of artists, activists, artist activists and thinkers. I believe that with this content the magazine would become a forum for debate as well as inspire, create change and stir social consciousness.

The design of the magazine is characterized by clean and contained photography, open and striking illustrations and contemporary, expressive typography.
