Bird Count is an event that takes place in Vancouver once a year, during the Christmas season. I intended to create a promotional campaign for the event. This event is unknown to many residents of Vancouver. Counting birds may sound unappealing to young audiences so it is important that the visual first impression says “fun and exciting.”
In order to make the poster look fun and exciting for the audience of my age and for people who enjoy the outdoor activities that I enjoy, I had to have fun in the process of creating it myself. The poster was done in and illustrative style conveying a loose and free feeling. Red, black and cream colour was applied to give a bit of a retro and funky feel. Also, I drew the birds wearing iPods and listening to music to make a stronger connection with the audience.
